Biography
Dr Vasoontara Yiengprugsawan has multidisciplinary backgrounds in economic development, social policy, and population health in the Asia-Pacific region. Dr Vasoontara Yiengprugsawan has multidisciplinary backgrounds in economic development, social policy, and population health in the Asia-Pacific region. Over the past decade, she has led quantitative analyses on lifecourse determinants of health, risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases, Universal Health Coverage and health systems responsiveness. Based at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research (CEPAR) and UNSW Ageing in Asia Research Hub, Vasoontara is investigating health-wealth dynamics in later life and long-term care policies in emerging Asia, including Indonesia, Mongolia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Dr Yiengprugsawan has previously held an Endeavour Fellowship from the Australian Department of Education and the World Health Organization’s Asia-Pacific Observatory on Health Systems and Policies. She has consulted for international organizations, including UNICEF East Asia and the Pacific Regional Office and the Asian Development Bank.
