Brief Bio

Dr Lu obtained his PhD degree at the School of Chemistry, UNSW in 2014 under the supervision of Prof. Chuan Zhao. He then spent two years in School of Chemical Engineering, UNSW as a postdoctoral research associate under the supervision of Scientia Prof. Rose Amal. At 2017, Dr Lu has been promoted to Lecturer and awarded the ARC DECRA Fellow. In 2019, he has been awarded the UNSW Scientia Fellow.

Brief Bio

Dr Lu obtained his PhD degree at the School of Chemistry, UNSW in 2014 under the supervision of Prof. Chuan Zhao. He then spent two years in School of Chemical Engineering, UNSW as a postdoctoral research associate under the supervision of Scientia Prof. Rose Amal. At 2017, Dr Lu has been promoted to Lecturer and awarded the ARC DECRA Fellow. In 2019, he has been awarded the UNSW Scientia Fellow. 

His research covers the following aspects: (i) development of cost-effective and active catalyst for electrochemical energy conversion reactions, including oxygen evolution reaction (OER), hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), CO2reduction reaction (CO2RR), nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR), oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR); (ii) design and fabrication of energy devices (water/CO2 electrolysers, fuel cell stacks, metal-air batteries) based on the novel catalyst materials, with activity and stability that can meet the industry standards; (iii) integration of the energy devices with state-of-the-art photovoltaic (PV) cells to realise the conversion, storage and re-use of the intermittent and diffusive solar energy.
