Alex is deeply invested in creating cities that are globally resilient yet deeply rooted in local character. An urban designer and Registered Landscape Architect (AILA), Alex has a rich portfolio of international experience. His career spans from Sydney’s mega-infrastructure projects to disaster recovery initiatives in New Orleans, providing him with insights into design across multiple scales and cultural contexts.

Currently a sessional academic at UNSW's Faculty of the Built Environment, Alex has also served as course convenor for the interdisciplinary BeOutThere! elective (B.Arch, B.IndDes, B.Planning, and B.Larch) and is an active member of Green Roofs Australasia. He is a strong proponent of living architecture, green roofs, and urban agriculture.

Throughout his career, Alex’s design, research, and writing have been widely recognized. He received both the AILA NSW Graduate Future Leaders Award (2015) and the AILA NSW Student Future Leaders Award (2013) and was recently highlighted by Landscape Architecture Australia as one of the profession’s “emerging voices.” His commitment to design excellence has led to success in several design competitions, including being shortlisted in the Brisbane Ideas Competition (2012) and nominated for the Hassell Edward Robin Travelling Scholarship (2013).

Alex is passionate about exploring the intersections of cultural, ecological, and economic influences in the built environment. In addition to teaching, he has held academic roles at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), and Louisiana State University’s Robert Reich Faculty of Landscape Architecture (LSU).

Outside of his professional life, Alex writes for Architecture Media Australia and enjoys trail running through the Australian bush—a pursuit that deepens his appreciation of the landscapes that inspire his work. If he could blend all these at once, he would.
