These platforms form the bases for various immersive applications in the area of data visualisation, virtual heritage, real-time computer generated content, VR training simulations and interactive cinematic experiences. AVIE is deployed across twelve sites in Australia, Europe, United States and Asia and generated $6.5M in commercial sales. In 2009, the systems won a Gold IDEA Award (International Design Excellence Award) in the Interactive Product Experiences category, one of the most prestigious design awards.

He received international recognition through awards, invited presentations and keynotes and exhibitions in museums, galleries and festivals around the world. • Mnemoscape: a study of digital lifelog images as memory cues. Bennett Jill, Kuchelmeister Volker, Conway Martin, Loveday Catherine, Davies Alexander. ARC Australian Research Council Discovery Project DP160102907, 2016.  This project aims to identify the qualities that make digital ‘lifelog’ photographs effective memory cues, and to establish how this new form of automatic photography may transform understandings of the relationship between images and memory. Applying insights from visual arts and interactive media to the study of episodic or ‘autobiographical memory’, the project aims to deliver comprehensive analysis of lifelog images and the conditions under which these photographs trigger vivid remembering. The project plans to derive a data-driven visualisation from its experimental study, advancing both the representation of visual autobiographical memory and practical understanding of image-based retrieval cues.
