Biography

Dr. Wei Ni is a Conjoint Professor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, the University of New South Wales (UNSW), and a Principal Research Scientist at the Information Privacy and Security Group of CSIRO. He has led research on privacy-preserving AI/ML and data analytics, and has extensive experience and a track record in developing applied AI/ML, data privacy, graph learning and signal processing solutions.

Dr. Wei Ni is a Conjoint Professor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, the University of New South Wales (UNSW), and a Principal Research Scientist at the Information Privacy and Security Group of CSIRO. He has led research on privacy-preserving AI/ML and data analytics, and has extensive experience and a track record in developing applied AI/ML, data privacy, graph learning and signal processing solutions.

Wei is also an Adjunct Professor at the Discipline of Networking and Cybersecurity, the University of Technology Sydney (UTS),  and an Honorary Professor at the Department of Computing, Macquarie University (MQU). He also serves as an Editor of Research Direction: Cyber-Physical Systems from Cambridge University Press since 2022, Editor of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology since 2021, and Editor of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications since 2018.

Wei has published seven book chapters, over 250 refereed journal papers (primarily in high-impact venues), and 100 refereed conference papers. He have contributed significantly to the industry with successful launches of an Alcatel-Lucent internal venture and two productlines, 25 patents, and ten accepted IEEE standard proposals. His patents are referenced by Apple, Intel, Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, Qualcomm, Blackberry, and Huawei, with a substantial impact on industrial roadmaps.
