Youngil Kim completed his PhD at the Water Research Centre (WRC) of UNSW. He is now affiliated with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes at the Climate Change Research Centre (CCRC) of UNSW. He worked on a multidisciplinary project titled “Comprehensive bias correction of regional climate model boundary conditions for simulation of hydrologic extremes” to understand the science of extreme events at the regional scale. He focuses on developing bias correction alternatives for a regional climate model, utilising state-of-the-art global data to produce accurate and physically consistent outputs across multiple time scales at a fine spatiotemporal scale. His primary research interests are bias correction alternatives, regional climate model (WRF), boundary conditions, hydrologic extremes, and GCM (CMIP6) downscaling for applications in Australasia and the Pacific region.
