Biography
Ayşe Arık is a senior lecturer at the School of Risk and Actuarial Studies at University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Ayşe Arık is a senior lecturer at the School of Risk and Actuarial Studies at University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Prior to this, she was a research fellow in the Department of Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK, from December 2020 to September 2024, after completing a post-doctoral research position there (January 2018--December 2020). She holds a Ph.D. from Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkiye, awarded in November 2016, with her thesis focussed on pricing pension buy-outs.
She is an active member of international actuarial profession: she is an associate member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and a fellow of the Actuarial Society of Turkiye; she is an active member of Mortality Virtual Forum of the International Actuarial Association and a board member of ASTIN/ERM.
Her recent research focuses on three related themes:
- stochastic modelling of (cancer) morbidity and mortality;
- modelling and understanding health inequalities;
- applications at the interface of life insurance and financial mathematics.
