Deborah is a registered nurse specialising in mental health. She currently works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist with Justice Health & Forensic Mental Health Network. She also holds a conjoint Lecturer position with UNSW and is a research fellow with the Justice Health Forensic Mental Health Research team.
Deborah completed a Bachelor of Nursing with the University of Newcastle in 2012, Masters of Mental Health in 2023 and is currently undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Mental Health with UNSW. She has also completed a Graduate Certificate in Acute Care and a Diploma in Dementia Care with the University of Tasmania.
Her research interests include understanding systemic processes that affect the mental health of those who are incarcerated, translational research and also the impact of dogs on mental health in the prison system. She is currently involved in research on the utilisation of mental health services on entry to prison.
