Biography
Mia is a Scientia PhD candidate and PhD Teaching Fellow with the School of Accounting, Auditing and Taxation. Mia holds BCom from the University of Queensland (UQ) and BCom Honours Degree from UNSW (with Honours First Class and The University Medal). Mia is a Scientia PhD candidate and PhD Teaching Fellow with the School of Accounting, Auditing and Taxation. Mia holds BCom from the University of Queensland (UQ) and BCom Honours Degree from UNSW (with Honours First Class and The University Medal). Her PhD project primarily focuses on the outcomes of auditors’ online information search. Mia also works on a project developed from her Honours Thesis, which focuses on earnings decomposition and market efficiency.
Mia actively participates in many International Accounting and Auditing research conferences and doctoral consortiums. She has presented her working paper at the 2019 Accounting & Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ) Annual Conference and she served as a PhD reviewer for reviewing the 2021 AFAANZ Annual Conference paper submissions. Mia also participated in the 2021 Auditing Section Doctoral Consortium held by American Accounting Association.
Mia has received several awards and scholarships, including Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence from UQ, UNSW Business School Honours Scholarship, UNSW University Medal, and UNSW Scientia PhD Scholarship. Mia is scheduled to submit her PhD thesis in 2023 and plans to develop her career in academia after graduation.

My Teaching
Mia's teaching interests include Financial Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis, Corporate Financial Reporting, and Auditing. Mia has completed the UNSW Business School PhD Teaching Fellow Program, Foundations of University Learning and Teaching (FULT) program and achieved an Associate Fellowship of the HEA. Mia has been tutoring and lecturing multiple undergraduate and postgraduate courses while undertaking her PhD in accounting at UNSW, which include:
