The aims of this Fellowship are to utilise and further extend recently developed methods for estimating different aspects of disease burden in order to:
a. Clarify the relative importance of genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors, alone and in combination, on the risk of developing cancer
b. Assess the prediction and relative importance of both patient- and treatment-related factors on choice and outcome of cancer treatment
c. Estimate the costs, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of different chemotherapy protocols for cancer treatment and prevalence of diseased
d. Evaluate the cumulative burden of diseases through the study of diseases preceding and following cancer.
