Dr Lisa Sharwood's experience as an Injury Epidemiologist and Health Services Researcher, comes from a strategically built pathway of academic, not-for-profit and government engagements, built on many years of clinical practice. She is driven to transform population scale epidemiological data into health intelligence, translating evidence based findings to improve practice, policy in healthcare and drive better health outcomes across populations. Sharwood has significant experience coordinating large research programs involving national industry and government stake-holders. She is proficient in the analysis and interpretation of population scale health data-sets, specialist in injury causation analysis and health service experience for injury management. I have advised industry and government bodies (including Standards Australia, Federal government, board governed statutory bodies and Treasury) and the judicial system regarding injury risk and prevention. Sharwood has provided regular Expert Witness to the courts (NSW, SA, VIC) in litigated matters involving the interpretation and evaluation of preventive interventions such as guidelines, standards or policies, the assessment of causal factors related to injury mechanism, and the outcome of injury occurrence including interpretation of whole of system failures amenable to optimisation.
Sharwood represents the Australasian Injury Prevention Network on the Standards Australia Committees: CS-05- Playground Equipment and Surfacing and SF-051- Trampoline Facilities. She is elected member to the International Population Data Linkage Network Executive Committee, and to the Australasian Injury Prevention Network Scientific Committee; also invited member to the international technical working group for Product Safety related Detriment (chaired by the OECD), and an invited member to the Australian Cross Jurisdictional Injury Surveillance Working Group.
