Dr. Rohit Tiwari is a Lecturer in the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering at UNSW and works closely in the areas of Geotechnical Engineering.
Rohit is deeply committed to understanding the performance of Geo-materials and Geo-infrastructures under dynamic loading conditions to ensure the safety and reliability of infrastructure systems. His primary research interests center around geotechnical earthquake engineering and performance-based seismic design of geo-structures. With a solid background in physical modelling, experimental investigations of seismic actions in tailings, earth embankments, and earth retaining structures, Rohit brings valuable expertise to his research endeavors. Additionally, his industry experience in construction and consultancy projects further enriches his perspective.
Rohit's passion for academic teaching is evident in his approach to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Australia and India. He strives to make complex concepts accessible by relating them to real-world experiences from industry and research. By doing so, Rohit fosters a deeper understanding and realistic appreciation of field conditions among his students.
