Dr Lauren Macreadie is a DECRA fellow and a UNSW Scientia Fellow in the School of Chemistry at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). She investigates how porous materials can be used to solve our key energy questions around hydrogen storage, transport and generation. Following the completion of her PhD at the CSIRO and Monash University in 2016, she worked at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, on water splitting MOF systems, followed by research with the CSIRO in Melbourne on MOFs as adsorbents for respiratory canisters in collaboration with the Defense Science and Technology group. Lauren then transitioned to independent research at the CSIRO, followed by a move to Massey University in New Zealand as a Chemistry Lecturer. in 2019. In 2020 she moved to the University of Sydney to investigate functional MOF materials on her DECRA fellowship. In 2022 she moved to UNSW as a Scientia Senior Lecturer.

My Research Activities
Lauren investigates metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) which are porous materials with incredibly high surface areas. These materials are made from inorganic clusters or metal ions, which are bridged together by organic linkers to form a 3D framework. These frameworks have the capability to do many interesting things, such as store and separate gases and hydrocarbons, catalysis and drug delivery.
