Professor Laura Poole-Warren is co-Director of the UNSW Tyree Institute of Health Engineering and Professor in the School of Biomedical Engineering at UNSW Sydney. She works closely with the Faculty of Medicine & Health and healthcare partners to identify unmet clinical needs and support translational outcomes in the medtech space.  In the Director role, she leads engineering, innovation education and medtech commercialisation teams to facilitate development of medtech solutions. Between 1999 and 2001, Laura was a preclinical scientist in a start-up based in USA and also she has regulatory expertise, having served for 10 years as a member of the Therapeutic Goods Administration expert committee on the safety of medical devices from 2003 to 2013. From 2010 to 2018, Laura held appointments in leadership roles at UNSW as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Graduate Research and she led the inaugural UNSW Athena SWAN gender equity team culminating in the Bronze award in 2018. She was awarded honours in January 2020 as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service to Biomedical Engineering and education, is a Fellow of ATSE, AIMBE and IUSBSE and the Royal Society of NSW.
