Professor Dominic Leung is a Senior Staff Specialist in Cardiology and Director of Cardiology and Head of Department of Cardiology at the Liverpool Hospital, Sydney Southwest Area Health Service. Dominic is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh), European Society of Cardiology, American College of Cardiology, Hong Kong College of Physicians and The Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Professor Leung is an internationally acknowledged expert in echocardiography and cardiac imaging. He has published > 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, editorials, reviews and invited articles in major journals and > 200 abstracts. The international recognition of his work is reflected in > 4300 citations of his papers (h-index 36) and frequent invitations to speak at major national and international meetings including scientific meetings of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, European Society of Cardiology, World Congress of Cardiology and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Dominic is a regular reviewer for international journals including The Journal of American College of Cardiology, The Journal of American College of Cardiology: Cardiovascular Imaging, Circulation, The American Journal of Cardiology, Heart, European Journal of Echocardiography, Heart Lung and Circulation, Internal Medicine Journal, Journal of Cardiac Failure, Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography, International Journal of Cardiology and Emergency Medicine Australasia. Dominic’s current research interests include valvular heart disease, heart failure, exercise physiology, exercise echo, diabetic heart disease, microvascular dysfunction, acute coronary syndrome and interventional cardiology. In addition to his busy clinical service as a staff cardiologist, Dominic is also actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and supervises a number of BSc (Hons), Masters and PhD students. Dominic has also been able to attract research funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council, National Heart Foundation and other funding bodies.
