- Dr. Ilhan Chang is an (adjunct) Senior Lecturer at UNSW Canberra and an Associate Professor at Ajou University, South Korea. Dr. Chang has comprehensive expertise in geotechnical engineering, multi-disciplinary (bio-soil) studies, sustainable and environmental geotechnology, ground improvement and site characterization, industrial cooperation and commercialization. Dr. Chang joined UNSW in 2017 as an academic Lecturer and has been promoted to a Senior Lecturer on July 2018 and served up to August 2020. Before joining UNSW, Dr. Chang engaged his professional career as a Senior Researcher at the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT).
- Education and Careers: Dr. Chang earned his Bachelor of Science (2000), Master of Engineering (2004), and Doctor of Philosophy (2010) degrees in Civil and Geotechnical Engineering at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). Main topics of his M.S. and Ph.D. dissertations were "Soft Soil Evaluation using Elastic Waves" and "Soil Stabilization using Microbial Biopolymers", respectively. Dr. Chang started his academic career as a Research Assistant Professor at KAIST (2010~2011) and moved to KICT (2012~2017) as a Senior Researcher to expand his experiences in R&D management and practical implementation. Meantime, Dr. Chang maintained his professional academic duty as an Invited Professor at KAIST (2014~2015) and Adjunct Associate Professor at UST (University of Science & Technology) (2016~2017), before joining UNSW. After his tremendous time with UNSW (2017 April ~ 2020 August), Dr. Chang moved to Ajou University as an Associate Professor, while continuing active collaboration with UNSW as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer (2020 September~)
