Associate Professor Lisa Jane Keay

Biography

Lisa Keay is a Senior Research Fellow at The George Institute for Global Health and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.  She has a PhD in epidemiology and a Masters in Public Health.  She completed a research fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in 2007-2008 at the Dana Center for Preventive Ophthalmology.

My Research Activities

Lisa Keay is Acting Director of the Injury Program and Head of the Eye Health Program at the George Institute for Global Health in Sydney where the focus is to reduce the global burden of chronic disease and injury.  Her research interests include health promotion, prevention of injury for older people with vision impairment and healthy ageing.  She completed a randomised controlled trial evaluating a program to promote safe mobility for older drivers and a cohort study evaluating falls risk in older people with cataract in 2016.  She is leading a randomised controlled trial of a falls prevention program for older people with vision impairment and blindness and her work in promoting use of child restraints is now being applied in pragmatic evaluations of education-based programs to promote use of child restraints in Australian Aboriginal Communities.
