Aref received his PhD in the Photovoltaics Engineering at UNSW in 2023 on the hydrogenation of cast-mono silicon solar cells. He is mainly focused on novel technologies for improving the carrier lifetime and efficiency of crystalline solar cells through the passivation of defective regions. He also has an interest in reducing light and elevated temperature degradations observed on different qualities of crystalline silicon solar cells and discovering the fundamental sources of the problem to ensure reliable solar cells for steady power production throughout their life cycle. Aref has a B.Sc. (Electrical Engineering-Electronics) from the University of Tehran and a M.Sc. (Information Technology-Micro and Optoelectronics) from the University of Stuttgart.
