Dr Kylie Vuong is Senior Lecturer in Primary Care at the School of Population Health at the UNSW. A clinician-researcher, she aims to improve patient health outcomes through the integration of research findings with clinical practice, policy and health systems. Dr Vuong obtained her BSc (Medicine) and MBBS degrees from UNSW Sydney, MIPH (Merit) degree from The University of Sydney, and PhD in Cancer Epidemiology from The University of Sydney. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and works clinically as a vocationally registered general practitioner.

Her research program has focused on translating the latest knowledge on prevention strategies to inform the development of clinical systems. She developed, by use of data from a large Australian population-based case-control study, a melanoma risk prediction model based on self-assessed risk factors. To date, this is the only melanoma risk prediction model to be externally validated across four independent population-based studies and prospectively evaluated in a pragmatic randomised clinical trial in general practice. This melanoma risk prediction model has been adopted by the Melanoma Institute Australia as an online Melanoma Prediction Tool.

She is currently working to improve cancer survivorship through lifestyle improvement strategies and shared care planning.
