Dr Cahalane has supervised both honours and PhD candidates across a range of topics. His PhD supervision includes research on location-independent digital work and digital nomadism, algorithmic decision making in the public sector, digital work as a performative process, and the impacts of digital nomadism on local communities. His honours supervision has encompassed investigations into digital nomadism, perceptions of algorithmic psychological distance, the influence of virtual reality on construal levels, the dynamics of remote agile teams in VR, user motivations for acquiring NFTs in the metaverse, as well as theorising the generative metaverse.
My Teaching
Dr Cahalane currently teaches the Information Systems Undergraduate Capstone course, INFS3605, which is centrally organised around practical, experiential, group software projects that employ agile scrum and the double diamond framework. Additionally, Dr Cahalane instructs the postgraduate course COMM8003 Advanced Qualitative Research Methods and serves as the undergraduate honours coordinator for the School of Information Systems & Technology Management.
