Biography

Dr. Mohammad Taleai is Visiting Professorial Fellow of the Geospatial Research Innovation and Development (GRID) in the School of Built Environment (BE) at the UNSW), Sydney, Australia, since Nov. 2021. Dr. Mohammad Taleai is Visiting Professorial Fellow of the Geospatial Research Innovation and Development (GRID) in the School of Built Environment (BE) at the UNSW), Sydney, Australia, since Nov. 2021. He is also a professor in Geoinformatics at the Faculty of Geomatics, K.N.Toosi University (KNTU), Tehran, Iran. Mohammad teaches and supervises students on GIS, Spatial Decision Support Systems (SDSS), Spatial Multi-Criteria Evaluation (SMSE), BIM&3D-GIS, Cartography, and Geo-Visualization at undergrad and postgrad levels at KNTU. He has contributed to the research and academic activities, and he held various executive and leadership positions throughout the KNTU university and private companies. He was one of the founders of the Iranian center of excellence in Geospatial Information Technology, Geospatial Information Technology (GIT) research group, and director of the Spatial Decision Making & Smart Cities Lab. He was the founder and CEO of a private company in the field of GIS and Intelligent systems. Mohammad has published over 150 refereed scientific papers and his current research interests are Deep Learning & Artificial Intelligence for Geospatial Applications specifically in the subject of Urban planning and Urban resilience, Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI), Location-Based Social Networks (LBSNs), 3D city modeling, and its application for Smart Cities and Urban Policy-Making. He has more than 14 years of experience in directing and cooperating in industrial research projects in the field of Geo-Informatics (GIS). During the past decade, he has engaged with the industry and profession and built and direct one of the strong research teams in the field of GIS, in Iran. He has led more than 15 research/industry projects funded by national and regional organizations.
