Biography

Dr Wei Liu is a Lecturer in Transport Engineering jointly appointed by the School of Computer Science and Engineering and the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNSW. Dr Wei Liu is a Lecturer in Transport Engineering jointly appointed by the School of Computer Science and Engineering and the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNSW. Prior to his position at UNSW, he was a Lecturer at University of Glasgow, UK, and was a postdoctoral researcher at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. Dr. Liu received his Ph.D. degree in Transport System Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2014, and his B.Eng. degree in Civil Engineering and B.A. degree in Law both from Tsinghua University, China, in 2010. He was with University of Florida as a visiting scholar between 2013 and 2014.

Dr. Liu mainly works in transport system modelling and optimisation, large-scale traffic modelling, simulation and computing, transport economics, and urban big data analytics. In recognition of his research, he has received a Best Paper Award from the International Transportation Economics Association (ITEA) for young scholars in 2015, and has received the Overseas Research Awards from HKUST for 2013-2014. Also, He was the winner of The European Transport Innovation Challenge 2017 under European Commission. Externally, he is an Associate Editor for Journal of Management Science and Engineering, a Guest Editor for Transportmetrica A: Transport Science, and an Associate Editor for 2018 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems. He also regularly reviews research papers for more than 25 international journals and conferences in the field.
