Linda Truong is a conjoint associate lecturer in research at the School of Women’s and Children’s Health, UNSW and Clinical Trials Project Manager at Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick, Department of Neurology. Her research focus is on neurosciences, paediatric neurology and pharmacology. She is an affiliate investigator for the NHMRC Australian Centre for Cannabinoid Centre for Research Excellence (ACRE) and is a member of the UNSW Ethics Committee. She has been an active observer on the NHMRC clinical trial review panel in Canberra and a scientific reviewer for Elsevier.

She is a certified pharmacologist and has over 15 + years of academic and industry experience in international clinical trials project management, NHMRC research grants development, trial monitoring and audits for international multi-site Phase 1 - 3 sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trials. She coordinates all components of clinical trial development which includes: trial feasibility, ethics submission, contract negotiations, audits, regulatory submissions (TGA and Med safe) and medical device reimbursements. Her largest project is supporting a $63.2 million international Phase 2 clinical trial across 12 countries.

Linda currently works with Dr John Lawson on the NSW Epidyolex Compassionate Access Scheme (CAS) with Epidyolex now approved on the TGA and registered for Dravet Syndrome. Her aim is to improve patient health outcomes by using innovative medicines tested in clinical trials. Her interest includes scientific research, strategic business planning and clinical trials project management to increase medicines access for patients. She is passionate about providing clinicians with the tools and knowledge they need to help patients succeed in their lives through her role as manager and pharmacologist in an academic affiliated paediatric teaching hospital. She also works with international and national sponsors to support TGA medicine registration and PBS listing.

My Research Activities

Currently Linda manages clinical trials in the Department of Neurology for new drug treatments in epilepsy and other encephalopathies in children. As part of her affiliate role, she works with other researchers and clinicians across NSW to draft policies for prescribing medicinal cannabinoids in NSW.
