Biography

Linda Truong is a conjoint associate lecturer in research at the School of Women’s and Children’s Health, UNSW and Clinical Trials Project Manager at Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick, Department of Neurology. Her research focus is in neurosciences, paediatric neurology and pharmacology. She is an affiliate investigator for the Australian Centre for Cannabinoid Centre and Research Excellence (ACRE) and is a member on the UNSW Ethics Committee A. She has been an active observer on the NHMRC clinical trial review panel in Canberra and a scientific reviewer for Elsevier for 14 years.

She is a certified pharmacologist and has over 15 + years academic and industry experience in clinical trials project management, NHMRC research grants development, clinical monitoring, trial co-ordination and audits for multi-site Phase 1 - 3 sponsored and investigator initiated clinical trials across Asia Pacific including Australia and New Zealand. She co-ordinates all components of clinical trial development which includes: trial feasibility, ethics submission, contract negotiations, audits, regulatory submissions (TGA and Medsafe) and medical device reimbursements. Her largest project is supporting a $63.2 million Phase 2 trial across Asia Pacific.

Linda currently works with Dr John Lawson and Dr Alexandra Johnson on the NSW Epidiolex Compassionate Access Scheme (CAS) and a world first early phase clinical trial testing medicinal cannabinoids in children and young adults with epilepsy and Rett Syndrome. She also works with international and national sponsors to support TGA medicine registration and PBS listing.

My Research Activities

Currently Linda manages projects in the Refractory Epilepsy Program for potential new drug treatments to improve management of epilepsy and other encephalopathies in children. As part of her affiliate role, she works with other researchers and clinicians across NSW to draft policies for prescribing medicinal cannabinoids in NSW.
