Biography

I joined the Faculty in January 2007, and was appointed a Scientia Professor, and to the CIFR King & Wood Mallesons Chair in International Finance Law, in 2013.  My current research focus is the delivery of financial services over mobile devices, in both developing and developed countries. I joined the Faculty in January 2007, and was appointed a Scientia Professor, and to the CIFR King & Wood Mallesons Chair in International Finance Law, in 2013.  My current research focus is the delivery of financial services over mobile devices, in both developing and developed countries. I've consulted to banks, finance houses and government departments, including the Asian Development Bank, the U.S. SEC and Department of Justice, the Australian Tax Office, the Indonesian Ministry of Finance and the Vietnamese Ministry of Trade. I began my practising banking and finance law in Australia and Hong Kong and on Wall Street for nine years.

Research Supervision

I am currently supervising five doctoral students. If you are interested in working with me, you should be fascinated by the delivery of financial services over mobile devices, or in the regulatory challenges that the rapid spread of  blockchain technology to new applications will generate. 

I have previously supervised nine doctoral student through to successful completions.
