A population-based family study of follicular lymphoma


Annually more than 900 Australians are diagnosed with follicular lymphoma. The proposed research aims to identify the environmental and genetic causes of this blood cancer. People diagnosed with lymphoma, and an unaffected family member, will be enrolled in a 5-year study in NSW and Victoria.

This project utilises health record linkage to quantify the risk of cancer in opioid dependent people registered for pharmacotherapy in NSW. We will examine the relationship between cancer risk and infection with the blood-borne viruses hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.
