HistoMichael R. Matthews is an honorary associate professor in the School of Education at the University of New South Wales.  He has degrees from the University of Sydney in Science, Psychology, Philosophy, Education and History and Philosophy of Science.  His PhD in Philosophy of Education is from UNSW.  He has published extensively in the fields of philosophy of education, history and philosophy of science, and science education.  He was Foundation Editor (1990-2015) of the Springer journal Science & Education: Contributions from the History and Philosophy of Science.  His publications include: eight books, 72 articles, 47 book chapters, and 12 edited anthologies and handbooks including the 3-volume, 76-chapter Handbook of Research in History, Philosophy and Science Teaching (Springer 2014).  Two recent books are: Feng Shui: Teaching About Science and Pseudoscience (Springer 2019), History, Philosophy and Science Teaching: A Personal Story (Springer 2021).  In the 2023 Stanford University Citation Scale, he was listed among the top 2% of Education citations in the world.ry and philosophy in science education; philosophy of education
