I am a human geographer and Science and Technology Studies scholar, and currently a Research Fellow in the School of Humanities and Languages and Centre for Social Research in Health. My research concerns adaptive governance in the domains of climate change response, renewable energy and public health. I am currently examining the role of mathematical modelling in policy response to COVID-19. I am also investigating the changing need for weather and climate forecasting and modelling in energy systems, as well as studying the energy resilience of communities affected by power supply disruptions during extreme weather events in the ESKIES project. I have previously been engaged in a number of projects on the social dimensions of increasingly renewable and decentralised energy systems, including through international research collaborations within the User-Centred Energy Systems Technology Collaboration Programme of the International Energy Agency. Prior research has also looked at climate change impacts and adaptation - including by exploring the origins of current approaches to human adaptation in evolutionary theory and systems ecology as well as their contemporary politics in the context of anthropogenic climate change.
