Research Interests:
The Maternal-Fetal Medicine subspecialty is based around the most complex end of the maternity spectrum. The Royal Hospital for Women (on campus at Randwick) hosts the New South Wales Fetal Therapy Centre, performing selective laser therapy for twin-twin transfusion syndrome, in utero fetal blood transfusions and shunt procedures. This environment allows for multidisciplinary, collaborative translational research. Research is divided into a balanced portfolio of fetal imaging, laboratory, original clinical and collaborative clinical areas. Fetal imaging: the use of novel Doppler parameters to assess fetal myocardial efficiency and quantification of power Doppler to define regional perfusion Laboratory research group: trophoblast culture techniques, inflammation and pregnancy complications. Original clinical: multiple local projects are currently underway within Obstetrics, Fetal Medicine & Midwifery
Broad Research Areas:
Obstetrics / Gynaecology, Imaging / Radiology
